Day 1. Ulaanbaatar
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to the hotel. Tour the Museum of National History with its splendid collection of national history and nomadic dwelling exhibits and Gandan the largest Buddhist monastery. In the evening Mongolian folklore concert. Evening tour of Ulaanbaatar, including the War Memorial at Zaisan if time permits. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2. UB - Gobi
This morning transfer to the airport for flight to the South Gobi and the town of Dalanzadgad, the provincial capital of South Gobi Province. On arrival at Dalanzadgad our vehicle will be awaiting our arrival and we immediately transfer to Eagle Valley, known locally as Yolin Am. See stunning Gobi Glacier and intriguing wildlife. With more than 300 types of flora and fauna, the Gobi is the last habitat for many endangered species, including the two-humped Bactrian camel, snow leopard and Mountain sheep and goats. After visiting Eagle Valley we transfer to ger camp where you stay for 2 nights and which is the base for exploring this fascinating region.
Day 3. Bayanzag Flaming Cliffs
This morning we offer a visit to Bayanzag and the Moltzog Sand Dunes. Bayan Zag, known as the Flaming cliffs, as described first by American explorer Roy Chapman Andrews, who led a major scientific exploration in the area in the 1920′, is a true treasure chest of prehistoric dinosaur findings. In the afternoon, visit a local nomadic camel herder’s camp to get introduced to the authentic lifestyle and culture of Mongolian nomads, try some traditional food. We have left the afternoon at leisure and will arrange to play the delightful local movie The Weeping Camel, at the Camp’s Lounge, and which portrays the life of a nomadic family that rears camels and the rejection of a baby camel by its mother. It’s a delightfully simple story and offers a very charming insight into the nomadic people of the Gobi region.
Day 4. Gobi Desert/Terelj National
Early in the morning take a flight to Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to Terelj National Park. Have an excursion to Turtle rock and Ariyabal meditation Early in the morning take a flight to Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to Terelj National Park. Have an excursion to Turtle rock and Ariyabal meditation temple. In the afternoon visit a ger “museum”. Following dinner, clients will be given a demonstration and training class for the traditional Mongolian sport of archery. Trails and competition will be held. Overnight in the Terelj Lodge ger camp.
Day 5. Chinggis Khaan Monument, 13th Century Park
After leisure breakfast drive to the 13th-century park. On the way visit, Chinggis Khaan’s Equestrian Monument is dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the Mongolian empire. Continue our tour to a 13th-century theme park which shows Mongolian ancient culture. In the park, we will visit Shaman, blacksmith, herder tribes and visit Mongolian ger from the 13th century. Late afternoon drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Free time for shopping.
Day 6. Departure
Transfer to the airport. Tour ends.
