Day 1: Arrival in Khovd – Journey to Myangan Ugalzat Wildlife Area

  • • Fly from Ulaanbaatar to Khovd, the gateway to western Mongolia and the Altai Mountains.
  • • Enjoy lunch in Khovd before beginning the drive south through vast mountain landscapes and remote steppe scenery.
  • • Travel approximately 250 km to the Myangan Ugalzat Wildlife Area, one of Mongolia's most important habitats for Argali sheep and Altai Ibex.
  • • Arrive at the wilderness camp and settle into your surroundings.
  • • Meet local conservation staff and guides for an introduction to the region's wildlife, ecology, and ongoing protection efforts.

Day 2: Wildlife Viewing & Photo Safari

  • • Depart early in the morning, at around 5:00AM, when wildlife activity is at its peak.
  • • Trek or ride horseback into key observation areas used by Argali sheep and other mountain wildlife.
  • • Search for Altai Argali, the world's largest wild sheep species, famous for their impressive curled horns and mountain agility.
  • • Watch for additional wildlife including Altai Ibex, wolves, red foxes, corsac foxes, and mountain bird species.
  • • Enjoy a packed lunch in the wilderness surrounded by panoramic views of the Altai landscape.

Day 4: Return to Khovd – Fly Back to Ulaanbaatar

  • • Drive back to Khovd, stopping along the way for photography and views of western Mongolia's mountain landscapes.
  • • Transfer to Khovd Airport for your flight to Ulaanbaatar.
  • • Depending on flight schedules, an additional overnight stay in Khovd can be arranged.
